Notes: The VGo robot is equipped with a high definition camera, a dedicated videoconferencing system (audio, video, file transfer) and remote control for the camera (tilt and zoom) and the movements of the robot. Dedicated software software (for PC and mac computers) to operate the device and its videoconferencing system is included. The robot can move around to orient the camera, but also to move from location to location, and even to dock for recharging its batteries. With this device, it becomes possible to follow classes (even if different classrooms are used), interact with the teacher and with other pupils/students, communicate with classmates outside class time, participate in group work, save snapshots of e.g. the blackboard on the own computer of the child in hospital or at home. In other words the VGo robot combines telepresence (allowing the ill student to take part in the school life) with mobility. Drawbacks: this is a very complete but very costly device. Device, maintenance and support are hired.
