Self-positive attribution tool

Description: In a project a tool was developed to change the ineffective attribution style of certain students during or immediately after an oncological therapy into a more effective attribution style, resulting in better learning. The ultimate goal of the project is to support young people in the commitment and motivation to learn during the period of therapy and post-therapy, to facilitate their reintegration into the school, thus avoiding episodes of school retardation.
Notes: About thirty boys aged 11 to 19 of two classes of high school respectively 1st grade and 2nd grade were identified to have an ineffective attribution style; i.e. attributing success or failure in learning tasks to external factors such as luck, task difficulty. With the use of a Moodle learning platform (open source, multilingual https://moodle.org/?lang=en) they received a training through collaborative distance activities that taught them appropriate strategies to replace their ineffective attribution style with a good once (which attributes success to internal factors such good study attitudes, appropriate efforts, relating new contents to already mastered knowledge, etc.). This way also self-esteem was changed from low to respecting themselves. Drawbacks of this tool: It still has to be seriously tested. Sounds complicated to most people. Not all teachers have access to a Moodle course/platform (others may be in use at the hospital school.
