Take off

Description: Take off uses videocoferencing via skype to provide in French speaking Belgium real-time distance education to pupils/students with medical needs while connecting their mainstream school’s class with the hospital or home during therapy and rehabilitation.

Notes: The system is relatively basic: broadband internet connects the learner with the mainstream school’s classroom; at the learner’s site a laptop with webcam is used, whereas the classroom is equipped with a desktop computer and a camera, standing at the backside of the classroom. Classmates and teacher bring/send texts about the classes to the learner’s place the day before, to help the learner prepare the lessons and take eventual homework from the learner to school. The learner “attends” the classes via a double skype connection.
